What’s happening in the Lewisburg area this weekend?
From baby chicks to live music to a night with a bestselling author, this weekend is full of ways to get out, try something new, and spend time with your people.

A Weekend That Feels Like Living Here

Some weekends feel packed. This one feels layered.

You’ve got events where you learn something, events where you linger, and events where you run into the same people you saw last week.

That’s kind of the rhythm here.

So if you’re deciding what to do, we’ll walk you through it like we would if you were texting us asking, “What’s worth going to?”

Thursday, April 16

🐥 Annual Chick Day! @ Freedom AG & Energy Cooperative

This one’s hard to explain until you go.

You walk in, and it’s the sound first. Chirping everywhere. Rows of baby chicks, different breeds, people picking them out, asking questions, planning their setups.

You’ll see families, longtime locals, and a few people who said, “We’re just looking,” and then leave with a box.

If you’ve ever thought about having chickens, this is where that idea starts to feel real. And if not, it’s still worth stopping in just to experience it.

Friday, April 17

Friday gives you a mix. You can spend the day outside, then ease into the evening however you want.

United Way Golf Tournament @ Valley View Golf Course
This is one of those days where you’re out on the course longer than planned, in a good way. Teams, conversation between holes, and a steady pace that lets you actually enjoy where you are. And it all supports something local, which makes it feel a little more meaningful.

🀄 Mahjong Tournament (through the weekend) @ The Greenbrier
Set inside the world-famous Greenbrier Resort, designed by Dorothy Draper, this tournament has a completely different feel. You’ve got bold interiors, a setting that’s been hosting guests for generations, and tables filled with players focused on the game. Whether you play or just step in to take it in, it’s a pretty memorable backdrop for Mahjong.

🎉 Washington Street Pub 7th Birthday Bash @ Washington Street Pub
This will feel like a reunion. People who’ve been going there for years, newer faces, music, laughter…a full room. It’s one of those nights where you say you’ll stop by and end up staying.

🎶 Acoustic Fusion @ Old Red Mill
A different pace. You sit down, music in the background, conversations that don’t have to compete with the noise. It’s easy, comfortable, and a good reset after the week.

🎤 Karaoke with Coach @ GVBC
This one builds as the night goes on. Starts a little reserved, then someone goes all in, and suddenly the whole place is into it. Even if you don’t sing, you’ll be part of it.

🎸 Lola Blu @ Hawk Knob
Live music with a setting that feels tucked away. You’re there for the music, but also for the atmosphere. It’s a good place to end the night if you want something that feels a little different.

Saturday, April 18

Saturday is where you can really shape your day.

🛍️ Community Market @ Montwell Park
Start here. Coffee in hand, walking booth to booth, talking to vendors, picking up something you local. It’s not rushed. You take your time.

🎨 Crossbody Workshop @ Carnegie Hall
You sit down, focus for a bit, and leave with something you made yourself. It’s creative, but also relaxing in a way that’s hard to explain until you’re in it.

🧶 Let’s Learn How to Granny Square @ Primitive Goods
There’s something about this one. People gathered around a table, learning step by step, helping each other when something doesn’t quite click. It feels more like a group than a class.

🎲 BINGO @ Hawk Knob
It starts casual. Then suddenly everyone’s locked in, listening for numbers, hoping they’re one away. It’s simple, but it pulls you in.

🎆 Fireworks Pageant @ Alderson Elementary School
This is part of the lead-up to Alderson’s Fourth of July celebration, which is known as one of the largest small-town parades in the country. You’ll see participants getting ready, families showing up to support them, and a lot of hometown pride on display. It’s one of those events that gives you a glimpse into how much this tradition means to the community.

🌎 Watershed Celebration Day @ Lost World Caverns
This one takes place inside the iconic underground cave, which makes it an experience on its own. You’re walking through cool, cavernous spaces while learning about the watershed and how it connects to the land around us. It’s part education, part experience, and definitely not your typical setting for an event.

🦌 Fostering Wildlife Corridors @ Northouse Museum
If you’ve ever wondered how wildlife actually moves through this region, this connects the dots. It gives you a different perspective on the land around you.

🍽️ Free Community Meal @ Edgewood Presbyterian Church
This is a monthly drive-through meal, so you simply pull up, and they’ll bring the food right to your car. It’s quick, easy, and open to anyone who needs it. One of those quiet ways the community shows up for each other.

🌊 Moana Trivia Night @ Across the Board
This one’s fun right away. Teams, laughter, a little competition. And yes, someone always knows more than you expect.

📚 An Evening with David Baldacci @ The Lewis Theatre
David Baldacci first discovered Lewisburg during one of our literature festivals and has chosen to return time and again. That says a lot about this town. There’s something here that draws people back. This evening, he’ll be sharing more about his career, along with a behind-the-scenes look at his writing process and work. It’s a chance to hear directly from an author who didn’t just visit once, but keeps coming back…and a reminder of why Lewisburg leaves a lasting impression.
